Melissa, yes, those are all work from home jobs doing medical transcription.

I do have a job. I applied and/or tested with every single company listed and had a job within 2 weeks. I graduated on December 12 and was working before Christmas. It can be done. It takes a lot of persistence and effort.

Good luck!

Treat your job search as if it is your job. Work at it until you have a job offer. :)

Hi! I know how it feels to go through school, then not find a job, and then all you hear or read is that everyone wants two years of experience. It is very depressing!! I schooled through At Home Professions and could not find a job for 8 months. I ended up getting an internship with Med Workshops for six weeks and got a job through them b/c they guarantee job placement.

Hope all goes well for you!

I'm trying. Thanks for the encouragement. How long did it take you to find an at home job?

I am looking wanting to go to school for this also so could you email me the name of the company also? I'm wanting to stay at home with my kids and still bring in an income.

Melissa, if you're asking me how long it took me to find a job, it was two weeks.

I was actually offered a job on this very message board. I worked that job for a couple of months but quit for a better job with better pay and a much friendlier atmosphere/"employer."

When you found your job in 2 weeks was it a work @ home Medical Transcription job? If so how did you do it, and what companies did you apply to??????

Melissa, I applied and tested all day long every day until someone hired me. I sent out my resume and cover letter to EVERY work-at-home medical transcription company that fit my needs.

I googled entry level transcription and applied to every company that came up.

I also applied to nearly every place on the previous document that I linked you to last week.

YOU WILL NEED TO MANUALLY COPY THE LINK TO GET IT TO WORK. INDEED DOESN'T LET ME PASTE IT HERE.

I now work for cattranscription.com

I was wondering if anybody that graduated from AT home professions got a job within a reasonable time period. I went to a seminar and it sounded pretty legit and they say with there program you don't technically need the 2 years experience. I have not gotten into it yet and don't want to waste my money on this program if it isn't worth it.

What's the cost of their course? If I were in your shoes, I'd probably spend the extra money (if it costs more) to do Career Step instead. Career Step is highly regarded in the transcription field and only costs about $1800 to $2200 depending on which program you choose.

As far as technically not needing the experience, I call BS. I have yet to come across a potential employer for medical transcription that would hire someone without at least some experience or some heavy duty schooling to back them up. Please check further.

I just looked into Andrews School and am currently checking out Career Step. I talked to a company and they said that those two companies are what they look for on a resume? Also, what else is needed on a resume that businesses are looking for?

Your resume will contain a statement, typically one short sentence about what you're looking for in a job. You'll want to post your education, your former employments (if any), your strengths relating to the job you're applying for, and make sure you note any special skills that you might have that would help in your job. Be sure to make it very professional and include your Name, address, phone number, and email contact. If you decide to sign up for Career Step, use me as your referral!! I might get something for it. :) Ask me for my name when the time comes and I'll give it.

I am about to graduate from Penn Foster. I have just my final in my last lesson of the program to send in before I graduate. I should be sending it in this week. I saw your posts with a list of jobs to apply to and am starting to apply. Do you suggest that I start over with my education and attend Career Step or do I just apply to these places and hope for the best?

Hey there! You can always try to get a job with the education that you currently have. If that doesn't work, I'd try something else. If I were to recommend a school to anyone, it would definitely be Career Step. Good luck!

I can only tell you what I've been told and that's that Career Step is the go-to school for this career.

The Andrews School is also an excellent school. Pick either Andrews school, Career Step, or M-Tec. If you are looking for a work-from-home job, you will be more likely to get hired if you graduate from one of these three schools. I don't know this from experience, but from what I have read on other message boards, At-Home Professions doesn't have a good reputation for adequately preparing you for the MT profession.

I am thinking of going into the Medical Transcriptionist field. I need to know what it generally costs to get into this type of training and what companies hire people without any experience.

Also, how to go about working at home.

I agree with everyone here, finding a job in the medical field can be pretty hard. This is such a good topic to discuss. However,I recently found that if you search <a href=“www.integratedmedicaldata.com/physician_email_lists/list_physicians_emails">medical email list</a> then you may be able to send your resume to many medical professionals. I have had good luck with sending my resume directly to medical professionals through <a href=“www.integratedmedicaldata.com/physician_email_lists/list_physicians_emails">medical email list</a>.

I saw this while searching MT jobs, and I am currently enrolled in Career Step's MT program. I had heard many things about..yes, you can get a first job at home after graduating..and also heard..you have to have experience, however, I would like to point out to all those looking that there is a website that I am currently looking at for re-assurance, and it is ahdionline.org! You will have to find the careers tab and start searching around there. But if you have enrolled and graduated or are currently enrolled, in an ahdi accredited school, then check out this website! Hope this information helps everyone interested! Have a great day! :)

I went to a seminar tonight by At Home Professions...Im glad I came upon this thread, now I know to send the course packet back to them! It is encouraging to know that you can actually work from home with the appropriate education. M-Tec graduates typically get the 2 year experience waived by employers being that they graduated from M-Tec, correct?
