I am able to see people go from their worst to their absolute full potential at times... and more importantly, be a part of them reaching their goals and dreams through the recovery vision. When someone is dealt with the card of having a mental illness, the stigma our society for years has placed on them is the most debilitating aspect and reason hope can become lost. Me being able to say to someone, "I don't judge you; your illness doesn't define you," a certain weight is lifted off that persons shoulders and they become a little less apprehensive about what my role in their life is. It's very rarely easy, but the recovery movement is moving and beautiful. Some of the most "real" people I have ever met have an MI. I love my job, and how rewarded I am to see each of my clients everyday, whether they take a step back or a step forward.
