Hello. Does anyone know of any underwriting or QA/QC due diligence/compliance position to work from home (I live in San Diego, CA)? Although I am unable to relocate as I have two little ones, I wouldn't mind, however, traveling for training purposes only (perhaps 2-3 weeks max?), and then work remotely for the duration of the assignment. Please do let me know if there are opportunities out there of this nature, as I will be more than interested. Thank you so much.

Is Interbank Mortgage still hiring? Anyone know of any current remote underwriting opportunities? I am a conventional underwriter, with paperless system experience. Thanks.

Unfortunately, remote underwriting positions are few and far between, but I think more and more lenders will be jumping on the bandwagon. I found my job by chance 6 years ago by doing a search on monster.com and jobs.com. Every once in a while you can find something but you have to be diligent in your search as the positions fill up fast.
If you don't already have your DE, you really need to look into getting it. It's a much simpler process than it was years ago.
Good luck in your search!

I live in Arizona and have been underwriting for 8 plus years with 14 years overall mortgage experience. I am currently employed but am looking for an underwriting position where I can work remotely from home. I have a 6 year old and another on the way and would like to be able to be home with the baby. Does anyone know of any companies hiring remote underwriters? I am a DE and LAPP for VA. I have been a contract underwriter for MI companies and have underwritten all types of residential mortgages. Please let me know if you know of anyone looking for underwriters.

Any idea on the pay or the working environment? I've never heard of the company.

How can you get DE? I have asked FHA, they say your company has to nominate you... well, if you can't get a job without DE, then how will you get a job? If you're a conventional underwriter, your company's not going to nominate you for DE because you don't do FHA with them. Kind of a Catch 22, isn't it?

It does seem like a Catch-22, but it's much easier to get a DE now than it was 20 years ago. I've been in this business for 27 years and got my DE 18 years ago. I worked for a year under the guidance of a DE (president of the company) before he felt I was proficient enough to be nominated. It was simply a matter of signing me up. The great thing is, you carry it with you when you leave.
Does your company only do conventional?

I realize how tough it is to get into an underwriting opportunity but I am looking to get into a remote underwriting position. I live in California but I don't mind traveling for training. If anyone has any information on current openings, please reply.
