Nanny in Stow, Ohio

I nanny approximately 25 hours a week. Lately I've grown to despise going in because I get incredibly bored when I'm there. I love the kids but I don't do well bored and it has been having a huge impact on my life - even causing depression. Even thinking about going there puts me in a bad mood. The kids are 3 years and 18 months. I can take them places but in a 9 hour day I can only take them out for maybe a 2 hour period. I'm just so bored with them. What can I do to help myself?

Try bringing in some art, or take them on longer outings to the park/playground, the beach (when it becomes warmer), or nature walks. Go to playgrounds where other nannies go and socialize. Involve yourself with the kids. Teach them new words, sing songs, and get down at their level. Are you good at reorganizing? Reorganize their closets/drawers. Bake with the kids. Go to the library for a read aloud session. Look in your community magazine and see what events are going on. Take advantage of being a nanny and not be stuck behind a desk all day!

I just realized you live in Ohio, sorry! Instead of the beach, maybe a lake or pond?

Sounds like you are bored with your job. It's time to quit and find another type of job that you will enjoy and not be so bored. I wouldn't eant someone feeling like this taking care of my child.
