Do you have any tips to help prepare for an upcoming nanny interview?

Are there common interview questions that come up again and again?

Be yourself, they can only ask you questions about yourself, and what a day would be like taking care of their child. make sure you wash your hands as soon as you enter the house, never ask about wages unless they bring it up,unless you realize that they forget, which they don't, they just like leaving it for last.

Always have a list of questons ready. The family likes to see that you really care, want to learn more. And if you are intrested make sure you tell them this before you leave there house so you are not letting them hang and they give the job to another person.

Find out activites, colors, games and special foods the kids like and ask them if they are old enought to get some type of bonding going.

I brought a little list of questions--what's his normal day like? favorite things he likes to do? will any housework be expected? discipline beliefs? tv--amount & shows? etc. and they asked me questions for instance: "What would a normal day with our [1-year-old] son be like? What kind of activities would you provide for him?" So of course I expressed my views on lots of outside time, music, dancing, reading books, going on walks, trips to the park, and lots of fun little projects--very "hands on"--for instance painting with colored coolwhip or pudding.. painting with fingerpaint and cooked noodles.. painting with berries.. trips to the library, hands-on-children's museum, the plant nursery, etc.
As long as you show you're truly interested in the job not simply just for the money, but actually bettering the child and having FUN while respecting their views, you'll do just fine =]

Check out the book on this site. It will help you find, prepare for, and interview very well with the very best families in your area. It will also teach you your rights as a nanny and how to get families to want to pay you top dollar and provide you with lots of benefits! It changed my life as a nanny, and if it could help me, it can help anyone!
