I am a college student with a computer information systems/network administration major. What are the best types of jobs for a college student to grab up while working on a degree/certifications? I have a chance to work as a contractor doing in home 4g network antenna installs/maintenance (from antenna to router and setting up the router to each computer in home both hardware and software) for a major company (cant name any specific names at the moment). But will this get me in the right direction? In a sense i guess this could be called network administration duties since im setting up/maintaining a small network. We wont be going very far beyond the router though which worries me a bit. My background is pretty strong in troubleshooting working as a mechanic for years and also home theater and flat screen installer for years. I also have about 4 years of customer service experience. My school also hires IT students to work in their IT department at times as techs and i think i could possibly get around a year experience there. So what should i do, what have others done to get into a good network admin desk job? |
