RN or PA in Southfield, Michigan

Currently, I reside in Michigan. Due to our economy I have been an out of work educator for over a year and I am now looking into switching into a health care field. I have contemplated becoming a nurse, a nurse practitioner (b/c Ohio State has a program where you can receive your nurse practitioners degree in 3 years) or a PA. I want to pursue a field where the job market has many opportunities for employment. I keep hearing that there is a shortage of nurses, but I also hear the PA is one of the the top 10 growing fields to go into. Any feedback/guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
