I'm appalled at some of the comments made here. Why most NPs in this forum are angry, rude individuals? I asked a question, I get slammed right away with comments that are irrelevant. I have a bachelors of science and was considering NP or PA in the near future, but reading through the forums I think I want to be around people with manners and dignity. NPs- is your profession really that bad that you can't help but live by your emotions? Lighten up people!

I am sorry others have been rude. That is too bad! I love being a np and think it is a wonderful career. I went through Vandy's program and was very happy about it- minus my school loans. BUT if you get your RN first, many hospitals will pay your tuition for master's. I say go for it! Midlevel providers are needed like crazy! If you love medicine/nursing and helping others then PA/NP is a great choice.

Please don't be discouraged about negative comments about the NP profession. I absolutely love my role and my job as a nurse practitioner. Without my education, I would not have had the opportunities to make the choices that were best for my children and to keep my family intact. I would absolutely tell you that being a nurse practitioner has been a most gratifying and enriching experience and that you will be rewarded time and time again from the patients and families that you care for. That is what it is all about anyway.
