That would be very difficult right now. Since the collapse of the economy, nursing jobs are scarce. The "nursing shortage" refers only to experienced nurses, and California doesn't have a shortage at all. Even as a new grad from California, it is very difficult to find a job. Many hospitals have a hiring freeze and the few openings for new grads have hundreds or thousands of applicants. Nation-wide isn't much better. As a foreigner, your chances of being hired are slim to none. My recommendation is to stay in Australia for a couple of years and wait for the situation to improve. The economy is finally turning around and experienced nurses are finally being hired again. New grads will have a good chance again in a couple of years - and by then you won't be a new grad anymore! |
