No such thing here in Edinburg Texas. Go to florida instead but you must prove that you have a very good experience in specialist area.

If your credentials are very good and very good long work experience in specialist area and with BSN then you may be able to apply in Florida. I just did it and got the job from H1C to H1B.

kat017 g in Mandaluyong, Philippines said: hi im a cathlab nurse for more than 2years done with VS, IELTS and im licensed RN in illinois. late last year I was interviewed and offered by an AGENCY here that claims they are based in CHICAGO, ILLINOIS and is asking for 5000USD! I found it rather dubious coz i know its illegal for them to get money from applicants. they said it was for their insurance just in case I changed my mind and not proceed with the whole h1b processing since its costly. so for those nurses who are in illinois please help me check if they are actually legit. If this goes well this can be beneficial to us all.

for those who have problems endorsing their ncelx passing exam to illinois from cali i have a soln if you still dont have an ssn number and you want to have an actual license. last time i checked vermont can process nclex passing letter alone without the SSN. this way you can already have a USRN license that you just need to renew. as for endorsing vermont license to illinois im not yet familiar w/it. you can just directly call Illinois department of financial and professional regulation for the details.

hi! what's the name of the AGENCY?

Hi, I'm a filipino..I'm here in Illinois with my husband on a depent visa,. Philippine nurse graduate, visa screen certified as well..I'm nclex passer from california, had my reciprocity license done from Cali to Illinois without SSN, fortunately last year Illinois Professional Lisc Dept did ask for my Birthday for confirmation, instead of ssn, because I mentioned to them that I still don't have SSN. Right now, I'm in a process for H1B application, all paid by my employer, in which I believed is really costly...labor dept application, lawyers fee n H1B filling...around 5-6k USD.
Don't just pay such a amount, check it for legitimacy, as the rule employer should be the one paying for fees..I'm in the process yet, I can't share much, but ill let u know for the outcome once it come out...hopefully,...ill pray for our both success on this endeavor...ingatz

Why don't you go personally to Ohio board of nursing, bring all your documents and make sure they're all current not expired.Make up your mind where you really want to have a nursing license .The board of nursing doesn't really response on email or phone calls.they're busy people. You can write them a letter too if still no response ,call them and ask for appointment to see them.Hope you'll get response from them.

Hello Hoapers,

I understand your frustration, but everyone trying to come from other countries usually have loves ones who they are trying to unite with in the U.S. The U.S. Healthcare organizations are no longer bringing nurses from the other countries like they did in 2004-05. At that time, there was a dire need, and the Bush administration had granted Green Cards for nurses from other countries to come to the U.S. The foreign-educated nurses bring their unique values and skills in patient care. Asking them to go home, as there is no longer a need for nurses doesn't do any justice to them. Secondly, we are not illegal immigrants, we reside here lawfully, pay all the income taxes including medicare and social security. We bring wealth to the country by joining the academic institute for higher education, and by renting and buying our homes.

As per your graduation class of RNs, wealth of opportunities exist and will surely come to your way. According to the Department of Labor, "Employment of RNs is expected to grow much faster than the average and, because the occupation is very large, 581,500 new jobs will result, among the largest number of new jobs for any occupation".

Lastly, as nurses we should take pride in us and over colleagues around the globe who dedicate their lives to helping others heal. We should stay united irrespective of the borders that separate us.

I do understand your situation and the dilemma that you may be facing. It is good to inform others of the lack of jobs at present for U.S. graduated RNs, and possible scams through recruiting companies. But, in my belief, we don't have the right to tell others what to do. Everyone in other countries is familiar with the fact that there is scarcity of jobs for RNs in the U.S.

Wishing you all the best, and hope you find the job of your dreams.

Your only option is either get an agency to hire you and sponsor you for H1B visa showing on paper that you will be working as a Nurse Manager and then hire you as an RN. or you could go back to school and become nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist and you'll get your H1B!! Good luck.

Hello Hoapers,

I am a foreigner thinking about studying to become an RN in the U.S. but now that I am reading this blog, I think I am definitely not going to.

It may be painful to read your comments, but it is something that needs to be seriously considered by other nurses wanting to come to the U.S. It is indeed a very difficult economic situation we are going through, regardless of nationality.

Diana,
I don't have good news for you...and others in our situation. I don't know where you're from and if there are any exceptions...but I just found out 2 weeks ago that THERE ARE NO WORK VISAS for nurses...I am in the same situation and I was shocked by the news and not sure what to do...might go to grad school...Nursing is not considered anymore as being a profession in shortage and they don't issue H1C visas anymore...I would suggest that you talk to an attorney...
