I am noticing some parts of Michigan, pay is real low. After I build my experience (maybe about a year) I am moving back to Florida. The job market is good here in Michigan, but the pay is way too low. When I was in Florida, my 1st job paid me 33.00 an hour without benifits, and 28.00 an hour with benifits. When I moved back to Michigan, the starting pay was 19.00 an hour. I love Michigan because it is my home but, I definitely will not be able to pay off student loans, and live a decent life with a wage of 19.00 an hour. Plus I didnt not go through all that hard work for 19.00 an hour. I have pasted below an actual add for employment for a COTA :-( Company name: NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICE ORGANIZATION
Job title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Job location: Detroit Salary: From $ 13.26 To $ 16.58 per hour |

I get that Detroit is hurting, but that is an absurd salary for a COTA. No way in this world. Yes, you would live a much more comfortable lifestyle in Florida. Here, you would make about twice as much (or more), and pay no state taxes. :) |
