Does anyone have stats or info regarding the average patients per hour for a full day that are seen by a certified assistant or tech? I am researching productivity info. I realize one hour with 3 or 4 new patients would be full and busy as opposed to one hour with 2 or 3 QUICK emergencies and 2 or 3 post ops. I am merely looking for some benchmark to staisfy some doctors. |

I work in an army medical center. We do not see as many patients as a civilian side. One doctor sees patients every 10 minutes, the other two are every twenty. However we see many same day referrals. I have screened as many as 60 plus patients with two technicians from 8am-1200. It was a push and some patients were 1 day pop from refractive surgery, but we were moving that day. In general, I would say a doctor could easily see patients every q15 for a full day. As far as techs, it just depends on if you have clinic procedures, HVF's, glaucoma screenings, refractive surgery evals, etc. We have 4 techs for 3 docs. One doc was prior civilian and he said his practice had 2 techs per doc. |
