I am interviewing for a traveling sales position. All expenses paid and commissions are paid. The base pay is in question. How much are base salaries these days?

From my past experience, base pay is usually anywhere from $30,000-$55,000 dollars. That is not including any benefits such as health care, expenses, car allowance, laptop. Prospective employees who have more experience in sales would get a higher base salary DOE. Also if you have a product that has a long sales cycle or does not sell very fast or very well. you may want to adjust according to that. the point of a base is to keep you going until you can carry yourself with your commissions.
As a sales professional you should never rely on base as your main income. Those who do never sell much, and usually find themselves looking for a new job in 90 days.
