I enjoy the creative aspect of the job. I dislike not having enough equipment and space to do the job easily. I believe there are many opportunities to learn if you are lucky to work in a kitchen with a good chef or pastry chef that will take the time to help you. You can also learn a lot from books and magazines and challenging yourself to learn something new each day. There is room for advancement, but it depends where you are working. I have been a pastry chef for over 30 years and I keep at it because I just love everything about it. the measuring and mixing and the magic when you open the oven and your product is beautifully perfect.
