I am trying to figure out how many payroll administrators I should have?? 1:100, 1:300 - what is reasonable for payroll?

1:100 is reasonable if all they are going to do is payroll and journal entries. If they are going to do benefits admin. in addition to their payroll duties they should have an assistant.

I had 300 and was bored. It depends on the level of education and experience. One can handle 300. (7+ years experience)

I have used the rule of 1 : 700 - 1,000 employees. Of course it all depends based on the tasks associated with the role.

It depents if you have an inhouse or outsourcing payroll system and how many employees your company has.
