How did you get your start doing payroll manager work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position? Do you need a particular educational background? |

In order to get a Payroll Manager job you need to have the experience (3+ years) of processing payroll; you also need to know what is required to successfully run a payroll department. This includes processing payroll for the various types of employees (unionized, exempt, non-exempt); making all the required state, local and federal deductions; knowing the laws governing wages, etc; mentoring and developing your staff; payroll accounting; garnishments; reporting to the various agencies; providing customer service to your customers (the employees); W-2 production; the various laws surrounding legal hiring requirements; laws governning the storage of employee information, etc. |
