You need to take the CIPM (Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement) Program, that way if you don't have hands on access to GIPS, performance analytics, attribution, time-weighted methodologies, than you can get it there. Many people also have worked in investment accounting prior to joining a performance group. Also, enrollment in the Chartered Financial Analyst Program is beneficial and sometimes required, depending on the firm.
