I am interested in becoming a pharmacy technician. I worked many years ago as an LVN, but don't like the direct patient care aspect. Also, I to work as a nurse again I would have to take a re-entry program, none of which are within reasonable driving distance of where I live.
I gather that the best pharm tech salaries are in hospitals or long term care. We only have two hospitals around here, so I doubt that would work out for me if I was newly trained. How do you get into long term care then? Are you an employee of the facility itself, or a staffing agency? Also, is the pharmacy located in the facility, or are the drugs prepared elsewhere and shipped to the facility? If that is the case, then I know there is nothing like that near my location either.
Thanks for your help..
