I just recently recieved my certification in Phlebotomy. I am so nervous about not being experienced and always missing the vein. Someone please help tell me about your first experience! |

Do you always miss? If so, you need someone by your side at every second, because that should not be happening. If you use proper technique, more often then not you should have success. Everyone has to learn somehow, and most people are good sports about letting you try on them. You will get more confident in time. |

I had the same problem when we started clinical in school. I wasn't holding the syringe properly. Once my teacher corrected my hand position I instantly started having success with my draws. Hang in there what seems hard now will come easily once you get the technique down pat: ) |

Practice, practice, practice, If you have family and friends they are the ones that want you to succeed the most they will be happy to volunteer. Hide your fear when facing a patient. Show and be confident if they see this in you they will be understanding if you happen to miss. They will allow to try again with no worry. Phlebotomist for 12yrs. Glad to help anytime. |
