As a somewhat recent college grad with a degree in art and design with emphasis in photography, I would have to say that the photography business is 15-20% photography, and 80-85% business/marketing. Business classes would be greatly beneficial in my opinion.

leapyearphoto.com has Fort Myers Photographers, so this advise may be specific to Florida Photography. However, I think you need to look at the cost (including time spent) of the degree versus just getting a business started.

I might be an optimist, but I think you should go for what you are passionate for. Passion can create drive---and you can make it successful. What do you want to do?
