Hey everyone... I am 41 years old and looking to transition from a software engineering career to PT. I've been working diligently for 3 years to get my prerequisite coursework finished and application materials ready. However, I just saw a statistic that the percentage of PTs between the ages of 55-59 is 50% lower as compared to those in their 30s and 40s. Can anyone tell me what these 55-59 year old people go on to do? I know what some go into academia, but is there anything else they do?

Thanks in advance for your help!

There are some jobs available at older ages. Depends on ones health but I don't see why you couldn't work full fledged till 65. And also, if you are feeling weak in old age, you can work for a home health agency and only do "opening assesments" and "evals" and get a pta to do follow up visits.
