I am a current PTA student and would love to work for a sports team in the future. Any one with any experience working for a sports team as a PTA? |

Better have more to bring to the table than a PTA degree. A lot more. |

Very true. I have my BS in Exercise Science and CSCS. I was just wondering how many people, if any, chose the pta route with a sport oriented profession and whether or not sports teams employ ptas. |

I would be surprised if many sports teams employ PTAs full time. That would just be another person they would have to employ. In addition to the athletic training staff, possible strength coach, they would also have to have a PT on staff in order to hire a PTA.... |

I would assume then that if a team employs all these positions then it must be in a town/city that has the money for it or it is an establish sports team. I guess PT/PTAs kind of separate themselves from ATCs/Strength coaches so they stick to their respected positions (PT focusing more on rehabilitation). I suppose it would be more practical to get a job in an orthopedic/sports medicine clinic as a pta than with a sports organization. Perhaps a clinic that works with injured athletes from local sports teams. |

My friend was on a sports team in college and the college had their own PT department that employed PTAs. So the PTA did in fact get to work with the sports team... |

Good one Future. Maybe you'll have a future? Actually I have no interest in doing a PTA's job. I want to be able to do my job and be compensated correctly for it. |

The fact that you don't even see the irony of denigrating the PTA degree after your complaining for months on this forum about how AT's don't get enough professional respect just goes to show exactly where you are coming from. |
