Future of PTA jobs? Will the market be stable enough to take career breaks?

I asked a similar question about the future of OTR/COTA but I thought I would also inquire on here as well.

This has been brushed over a little bit but I thought I would ask again--What does the future look like for PTAs? Once medicare dries up will PTA's lose their jobs? Will they take a massive pay cut? Or is the BLS right in thinking that this position will grow like wild fire because PTAs give you more bang for your buck?

I want to help people. I want to work as a rehab therapist and then take breaks IN BETWEEN travel assignments to work with NGOs and missionaries abroad. I will not be able to do this if there are no jobs once I come back. I will have to find a job and hold on for dear life. Will my travel agency work with me? What do you think the future looks like? Bleak or prosperous?

Also, do you think that in the next ten years Texas will still be paying PTA's COTAs and OTR ridiculous salaries? I am doing my pre-reqs now and trying to make smart decision.
