There is an 2 yr online PTA program where I'm taking the regular one. It's in WA state but you have to come to the college like one weekend a month for Labs. www.whatcom.ctc.edu |

There is one more college san juan college in new mexico. the only drawback is that you have to go out there for different periods of time to do clinicals. Ashworth university offers a physical therapy aide program by distance learning. I was wondering if you took that program, would you be able to sit for the boards for physical therapy assistant? Does anyone know? Thank you |

I am currently living in Illinois. I need to get back to school. Was looking into physical therapy assistants, but is there an excellent accredited online school for this? Please help! Would very much love to get my mind going in good studies again. I prefer do to online as I live in a smaller town now and do not want to drive an hour for school as I already have to do that for work. Any suggestions? |

I am currently doing my pre-reqs for the PTA program online at San Juan College. They are accredited and you do have to go to the campus in New Mexico for about a week or so at the end of the school year for labs. Other than that, everything else is online. |

There aren't any PTA program offered completely online. You have to have clinical work and you wouldn't be able to do that with an online program. You can complete pre-reqs online, but you cannot complete an online program for PTA. Also, PTA and PT-Aide is NOT the same thing. Please don't get sucked into those Penn University (or what it's called) scams. You will only be a tech and you don't need to take classes for that. You can have on the job training without spending all the money for those online classes. It's a scam. |

Tech's do not treat patients. At least, they shouldn't be. All companies use their tech's differently, but you do not need to go to school to learn how to get an ice or hot pack. It can be shown to you. I started out as a massage therapist and was also hired as a tech at a PT clinic. I was shown everything they wanted me to do from how to perform modalities (e-stim, ultrasound and ionto), to exercises, how to use and clean the equipment, how to run the front desk, etc. Like I said, all companies use their tech's differently, but I think those things are the basics. Hope that helps! |
