Has anyone heard from or been accepted to Barry's Fall 2011 PA program?
I'd love to hear from any of you who have applied to Barry. As for me, I have applied but have not heard anything yet. Thanks :) |

I interviewed at Barry at the beginning of November. It was a very simple interview because they had no individual interview session. The group of interviewing students split up into several groups and were given a topic to discuss for 15 minutes and then one person from each group was to present it. Example: my group question was " Do you think that Physicians should treat illegal immigrants in non-emergency situations". All the questions were kinda tricky like that. I don't really know how they judged the group of students because we didn't say much about ourselves. Everyone did go around the room though to say where we were from, our degrees, school, and why we decided to become a PA. I heard back last week saying I was waitlisted :( I hope you hear back soon. Good luck with everything. |

I was invited to interview at Barry back in October & chose the early December interview date. The interview, as previously discussed, was fairly easy & I think most people did well. I know when I interviewed within my group of 30, there were only a few spots remaining in the Miami Shores campus. I received word that I was accepted within a week of my interview, and I waiting to hear back from a few other schools, but I think Miami is where I will be :) Good luck with everything!! And keep your head up! I got a handful of rejections, a few interviews, and a couple of acceptances |

Lights & Sirens, CONGRATULATIONS! :) That's awesome. I'm bummed to say that I have applied to Barry but have not been invited to interview yet, so............ I am assuming that this means that I have slim or no chance. I have not heard anything at all... but thanks for sharing. It's great to hear what others' experience have been like along this journey. :) Lights&sirens09 in Syracuse, New York said: I was invited to interview at Barry back in October & chose the early December interview date. Lights&sirens - what question did they ask you at your group interview for Barry? Did you decide to attend Barry or the other school you got into? If you got accepted and will attend Barry for class of 2013, there is a facebook group and you should join us: it's called "Barry University PA class of 2013" This site won't let me leave links but if you log into facebook and search for the above title, it will come up in the search. |

Bluecloud- The group interview was really a group psych experiment of sorts. THey take the 30 people and put you into 5 groups of 6. Each group is presented with a "question" that they must discuss within the group and then after 15 minutes present to the larger group of 30. Our group question was BY FAR the best, I think. Our question was "do you agree or disagree with the use of non-viable infants for organ donation?" ie-babies that are not expected to live much longer for whatever reason, and ending their lives for organ donation. Obviously LOTS to discuss with the question here, which I think was better then the more standard questions provided on abortion and physician assisted suicide. Above all else- take a stand and explain why you chose how you did. There is no right or wrong answer, they just want to see how everyone does in a group setting. As of right now- I am still deciding which PA school...I paid deposits on my choices, I just need to see what happens with financial aid when it comes out....is anyone else as nervous/ excited/ scared as I am?! |

Barry is my main interest right now. However, I worked at Emory School of Medicine for years and live right next to it, (I missed the deadline to apply) so am sometimes tempted to wait a year and attend there. BUT, I really loved the Barry professors and students that I met, and I really love FL. That all made a really great impression for me. Which schools are you interested in besides Barry? |

I really liked Arcadia bc they offered the chance to travel abroad should you want it! I also liked PACE in NYC, and SUNY Upstate and LeMoyne in Syracuse. I have also been accepted @ Clarkson University, which is in Potsdam & a brand new program...definitly worth looking into! |
