Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing? Where are the jobs? Which places have the most pilot opportunities? |

There are more jobs available in New York than any other city in the world at this time. There are many small charter pilot jobs available. I stopped flying because of some health problems I had but they have now been resolved and I may start flying again. I have always been in my own business since I was 25 years old, it is the only way to go to make real money. You can rent a small plane and charter people around for the day. That is great fun and high profit. People pay very high prices many times when they need to fly somewhere fast. They can pay $800. per hour and more sometimes. So even $6000. per day is not impossible, much better than any job out there. |

You cannot just rent a plane and charter people around for the day. This is completly in violation of many FARs. First to even be compensated for flying you must obtain a commercial pilots license. Then, after you obtain your license, this does not mean that you can rent a plane and fly around people that are paying you. You are under the constraints of a whole new set of regulations, some that you are probobably not familiar with as a Part 141 or Part 61 student pilot. There are people that do this type of "business" are completely illegal unless they are operating under one of three types of operations; Part 91, Part 135, or Part 121. These regulations are very strict when it comes to what operators and pilots can, and can't do. You must be very careful when launch out into the complex world of FAA regulations as this is a great way to ruin a possible career. Unless the above post is operated under the specific set of governing FARs, in this case mostly likely Part 135. DO NOT think that just obtaining you commerical pilot certificate makes you eligible to ferry people around for a price, you must operate under a set of rules which makes this operation very costly. This is not an easy way to make money. The startup of such a business requires a thourough backing of capital. |
