You need Excel to excel at pricing. No joke. Be fluent, make that expert, in spreadsheet skills.

You need to have a great working knowledge of excel, word and powerpoint, as you have to present your Pricing Proposals to upper management to get their approval before submitting any proposal. You also need to have a good working knowledge of the Federal Acquisitions and Regulations (FAR). With those set of skills, you will be ready for a pricing analyst job.

As a Pricing Analyst (12 Years) the top three traits would be in my opinion are 1) Know your product 2) Know your competition and 3) Where you want to fall within the Market Place with your final Price. F. Lucas 03-23-2009
