Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing? Where are the jobs? Which places have the most process operator opportunities? |

I have been in chemical plants and reineries for almost 4 years checking fugitive emissions. I am now in school for my ptech certificate do you think a plant will hire me as an operator with just a certificate and experience like that? |

Good luck is all I say. I live in Houston and have been trying for 3 yrs. I work in tons of plants all up and down the ditch and haven't hit the lotto yet. I too have the certificate. Good luck. Maybe you'll hit the lotto sooner or later. And by lotto I mean get a job as an Operator. |

I was lucky. I was living in baytown tx when i got this job in Conroe Tx. There are not many hiring right now but if you are going to school for this career, put the extra effort in and get the degree. All companies will be requiring it soon. "Inside tip" |
