I'm actually interviewing people for an open procurement specialist position and here is what I used for the first round. Fairly generic but customized for some specific aspects that the position may require.

Interview Questions for
Procurement Specialist

1. Please describe your professional Procurement experience, including the types of products and services purchased, dollar amounts involved, and your role or involvement in the development and administering of procurement bids. Be specific in describing your role and functions in carrying out your duties.

2. Please describe the approach you would take to procure modular office furniture as a central buyer for a remote location, including the procurement steps.

3. What has been the most interesting procurement project and why? Please describe your role.

4. Please describe your experience with financial systems in the procurement arena and your involvement from the procurement perspective (e.g. requisition, purchase order, invoicing, etc.).

5. Please describe one program or project in which you displayed initiative to change an existing procedure or start a new procedure. Provide details as to what the project/program entailed, your role, involvement, and the outcome.

6. Describe a difficult customer or vendor situation that you found yourself involved in and tell us how you handled the situation?

7. How would you handle a difficult member of a cross functional team that you were a part of?

8. What methods have you used to search for a product or service that you knew nothing about?

9. Describe your last position. What did you like best about it and least about it?

10. What unique trait or experience will you bring to this position?

11. Is there anything that you’d like to tell us about yourself that we haven't covered to further enhance your qualifications for this job?
