What are the top 3 traits or skills every Product Designer must have to excel?

Can you suggest any tips or insights to develop your Product Designer expertise?

traits - not sure it fits
skills - mainly the ability to find the answers
working at advancing your knowledge of what you do not know about the physical world, how things work, are made, are handled
like big bot said - see a need fill a need
study the situation, create the 3d working vision in your mind,
build it on paper, or in the computer, refine it
then start over looking on how to improve it
good product design comes from fixing what either does not work or what need to be improved
tip - figure out how a lot of things work
note - some designs / products have limitations, do not exceed them
note - watch out for over designing
note - office politics can stiffle your imagination
