What are the top 3 traits or skills every program manager must have to excel?

1. Build a methodology that actually takes into account your corporate culture
2. Staff with hands on project managers (I typically go hunting for business analysts)
3. Manage up and down...tell the executives what they are getting for their money and your staff how great they are doing.

Are you talking about Software Program Management?

The number #1 trait will be: Don't let anything fall through the cracks.
Even if you let the little things inadvertently "slip through", people will eventually lose faith.
