I lost a property mgmt position I really enjoyed a couple of years ago to a friend of the owner. Since then, I have had difficulty even getting an interview. I've tried everything imaginable, from reading books on the subject, internet advice, re-doing my resume, etc.
Has anyone found something that works well most of the time? I welcome your advice.

I appreciate ALL the comments - from EVERYONE. One of my problems is that there is no one in my area to communicate with, compare notes with, etc. The people I know in this business are very possessive of their jobs (if employed)and if unemployed - forget it!
I am not,and never was, that way. Sharing is as beneficial for the one who gives as for the one who receives, and that is one of the reasons this forum is so rewarding. I just want everyone who has taken the time to respond to my plea how much I appreciate hearing from you. May each of you have all the luck in the world. Claire 12

Hi Rent Man -
I totally agree with your comments, especially about "don't give up". I believe a person is only a failure if they "give up" or stop trying. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
I wish you all the luck in the world.

Greetings Scotto 101 - thank you for sharing. I know how hard it is to keep trying when you face constant rejection. I just keep telling myself - "all the more reason to keep trying". Also, if you're certain that property mgmt is THE career for you and you truly love the work, you will succeed if you persevere. Good Luck!Greetings islndjak in Pompano Beach - thank you for the list of web sites. I had no idea there were so many geared to prop mgmt. This should prove a big help!
Greetings again Rent Man - It's so true - sharing anything good, positive, and helpful attracts good karma and I believe will eventually reward those who try to help others. And - I do not believe "nice guys finish last" - Sure, some do finish last, and some do not. We all would agree that life isn't always fair. But I have to "live with myself" and I'd rather live with a "nice girl"

I am so glad I found this forum. The fist comment I read was yours and it sounds like something I would post at this time in my job search. I have 22 years of experience, and can't even get a call from my Resume. I to live in an area where people are given opportunities based on who they know and not what they know. It seems that the business has gone from classy (when you and I started) to trashy.
