What do you enjoy most about being a proposal writer? What do you dislike the most? Is it challenging? Are there many opportunities to learn and advance?

What I enjoy most is the autonomy and knowing that I am considered the subject matter expert.. at least during the proposal writing process. What I dislike are the sometimes long hours in writing and coordinating the proposal. It can be very challenging. The best opportunities come with working with smaller firms initially. It may even be a good idea to volunteer for a smaller firm just to gain the experience.
