I most enjoy the analysis of purchasing. Making sure I am getting the best price and service for our company's dollar. I dislike pushy sales people; cold calls, etc.. Purchasing can be very challenging when money is tight. You need to make opportunities to learn. APICS certification is a great start. Learn as much about your product line as possible.
