We moved to northern CA a few months ago and I have been on the job search since. Unfortunately, I graduated from an AZ program and I am still working on becoming qualified to work in CA. I have scheduled my fluoro exam, obtained my CRT, and trying to find a place for venipuncture certification. In AZ, a fluoro permit and venipuncture is not required but from what I am learning it is pretty much required for CA. Could anyone shed any light on this and verify that I do need all of this to work here.

Also, anyone having any luck getting hired? I have applied for a bunch of jobs but no luck (blaming my lack of fluoro permit & venipuncture). I am pursuing my bachelor's since I have had no luck applying for jobs. Just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone could give any words of wisdom for a brand new CA technologist.

Hi Julie. I just moved here a few months ago myself and am going through all the same steps as you. I've applied to every posting out there and haven't received anything but the generic "thank you " responses. Obtained my CRT, got my CPR renewal, trying to get into a fluoro class. I'm not even going to do venipuncture yet, I think, because I was reading that after the class you then have to have so many sticks within the first 30 days to get your final cert. And where would I do that? Also, I was surprised to learn that CA allows the Limited Tech, which we didn't have in my former state.

Have you had any better luck in the last few weeks, and what are your plans for the B.S. degree?
