I've done several BPOs in the past. They're quick and easy to do but usually located in the worst parts of the cities. I find it interesting that the BPO companies never seem to pay up. Beware or you may find you're doing 5 BPOs, waiting for a check and never getting paid. Good luck.

After reading the answers, I see there really isn't one to the question. I don't think the person was asking for advertisements or how many your doing or what you will share. It was how do you do BPO and get started doing them and I would love to see an actual answer. Too many people are scared of competition and so it's like some guarded secret. What is the big deal about answering a question pecise and direct? There is enough work to go around even in a bad market.

With the market the way it is today and a family to feed I need to find a way to make extra income, doing BPO's seems like a good way to be able to apply my profession into doing this other than just selling real estate. Especially these days

There is no current up to date info on getting started on doing BPO's. I am a licensed agent looking into it, see websites that charge money right out of the gate for lists. Is this how it works?
Can someone who is currently doing this share some guidance on who to contact myself and online in order to get started? I dont know where to begin this process.
How can you determine if companies are legitimate?

i am interested in getting the bpo's to do for the actual people who need them done. i have heard of people just getting the emails of the property they need it done on, you go gather the info sending it to the company who needs it then get paid the rate (be it 55, 75 dollars etc) my question is how do i get myself into these companies who send you the work in the first place. most people say you dont actually get the listing to sell yourself so are you saying you could send me the property, i would do the bpo then also be able to help re sell the property?

BEWARE . . . Working with Indian "help" on BPOS, many of those people will try to tell what a proprty is worth, and they have never been to your city/town or even in USA. Do not let them bamboozle you so they can look good to their supervisors.

BEWARE . . . Many of these BPO companies will pay low, or not pay, or wait weeks/months to pay you. A good BPO company will provide a phone number for you to reach them with questions, problems, YOU REALLY NEED SOMETHING IN WRITING FROM THE BPO COMPANY WITH WHICH YOU WORK.

Bpo's are easy. Lookup bpo's in your browser and sign up for companies. One company that I copy from is PCV. They have great answers, copy and paste in Words. When your company approves the bpo, copy & paste to Words.

you have to sign up with ALL of the bpo companies, and wait your turn, sometimes it takes years before they give you a shot. once u get work from a company do not compelte more then 5 and wait and see if you get paid.
steer clear of utls. they DO NOT PAY.
easiest way to start getting bpos is to sign up with companies who send work in blasts and its first come first serve. companies who assign already have their favorites and you most likely will not get any work from them ever or if you do it will be in areas no one else wants to cover and then barely worth the gas,
try residential real estate review and altisource they both assign in blasts and its a fair shot who every grabs it first. their fees are very low. but everyones fees are very low these days.
good luck

BPO's are not the best work. They give you anywhere from $35 to $50 per BPO and to make any sort of living, you have to do 5 or 6 per day an upload all the forms to the website. If you can't do the volume, you will not make any money and in fact, if you don't keep up the volume, you will not get the work assignment. It's a two part game "who can jump on it first" and "who can consistently do the volume". You need a blackberry type of phone or an iPhone so you can answer emails on the fly, and not a regular cell phone and a good camera. You need to become almost like an appraiser, in terms of comps, being able to subtract for differences in square footage or number of bathrooms and so forth. You are under pressure to give the bank the most accurate answer but in fact, they are bypassing appraisers, which normally charge $350-$500 for a single or 2 family home in this area. The banks win, you work your butt off and lose . try rental market, much better than BPO if your sales are slow
