What keeps you at your job?

What I hate the most about being in Recreation therapy field is when people ask, " Whats Recreation Therapy?"

What I like most is I am the only one person in the facility that my residents line up in front of the elevator for waiting to see. Gail, what r we doing today? I also love in when they take over the group. I love it when they help each other. What I dislike the most is supervisors throughout the field have no problem encroaching on my personal time to do things for the residents uncompensated. I have a family. Anything I do off the clock must be compensated for either in time(when I want to take it) or in money(as in OT). Also the paperwork that goes with the job often gets in the way of the actual groups. God forbid a facility would entertain the thought of a straight papaerwork day that I could put on my activity calendar to let my res. know I am Not ignoring them but that my paper work has got to be done. Catch as catch can paperwork time is exhausting and usually subpar. Hope this was helpful.
