You can go to monster India or individual hospital web sites to search for jobs in Bombay. I have been looking past couple of months, I checked out Asian heart institute, Bombay hospital, Breech candy hospital and other sites to look for jobs in Bombay. All the jobs are for RNs, X-ray techs, Nuclear medicine techs and other lab techs. I think they don't have RT department in India because it is specialized and quite new, may be Nurses are doing their job. I hope this helps!!

Dear Fellow RT,

I agree with Mr Srinivasa of what is happening in India. He is also wrong on his Part by saying RT in india are Poorly treated and Poorly Recognized .RT in india is at his Infancy .Pulmonologists, Anaesthesist ,physicians ,Nurses and Technician are doing the Job for past 50 years .Its not fair has RT to tell them to get out or Recognize us.We has RT should prove we are better trained and thereby patient care is better. These problem are not only in India. These problem exist other then US ,Canada and Singapore to name a few.

Manipal ,Ramachander and CMC are not the only Institutes .We have Institutes like Jayadeva (Bangalore)and Symbosis (Pune) .Amrita (Kerala) are the other centre.

Respiratory Therapy is Booming in india. They are a lot of Jobs in india .So pls contact me give u info .

Regarding the Pay .The pay is Good based on Skill ,Experience,Area of practice and specialization.Respiratory Therapy is Booming in India.

Hi All,

I agree with Prem. Although pay scale may not be good for RTs as it is for IT and MBAs professionals in India but looking at the trend it will improve in the future. Even here in US nurses get more recognition because they have been around forever. I agree with Srinivas also that if one has to go back home they should go as a physician which makes more sense. In US nowadays because of economy so many hospitals are downsizing or closing doors forever so I will not rule out the option of going back as a RT.

Dear Prem I hope you are running a RT recruting agency???? How much you can pay for a frsh RT from US Degree with CRT/RRT 9these degrees are Internationally Recognised compare to our Indian RT degrees???), How much U can pay for a fresh 4 year RT graduate????.

I think U can pay max 20 to 25,000 per month for USA-CRT/RRT 's and U may pay RS 10 to Max 15,000 fora fresh RT???? Let me know if U are reday to pay more than what I mentioned......then I will send 20 RT's to UR hospital to work. Tell me U can doo that.

I accept the way U are giving moral support and giving positive points towards Indian RT's U are rite we have to work hard to prove that we can handle more Respiratory Care Related problems indipendently. But this isIndia to get the Independence we need 50 years more. Our Indian minds are too narrow and minds of our Indian physicians is too too narrow and their ego probs are too high compare to other physicians.

In the part of the US where I live new grads with CRT/RRT can earn upto $20-25 per hour. The thing is jobs are not plenty as it used to be. What exactly is the job function of RT in India? Here we provide and operate various types of respiratory care equipment including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, nasal CPAP, ventilation and intubation.

Hi Saumy, Manipal and all fellow RT's from India. Myself belongs to Mumbai, India. I did my RT in USA. Here in states the RRT is equalent and preferable to be similar to the Phd’s offered in India and other countries.

The NBRC credentials are World wide accepted. Many Indian RT's are trying thr level best to get eligibility to appear CRT/RRT license exams offered by the NBRC, USA.

I hope You know the answer why every one behind the CRT/RRT credits. Because the NBRC credentials are the respectful, most valued and those are mark able standards US RT education and its Clinical Practice.

Nice to know that U guys offering Masters. Here in states even Coarc started Masters Programmes in few Universities, but these are targeted for the Manager Levels and may preferable for the teaching purpose, but these are not mandatory for all RT educators. To gain Eligibility for the Masters U should have RRT from NBRC and GRE too.

I hope you might not aware, in the World the CRT and RRT’s are in demand not only in USA as you commented. CRT /RRT’s are in demand in UK, Australia, Canada, UAE and other developed countries too. I heard few of CRT/RRT’s are working in India and they are getting paid good salaries compare to Indian RT degrees.

I think U all are reading US based text books for Ur RT graduation. Plz don’t comment and put down the respectable CRT/RRT credentials to gain popularity yourself and for your Indian degree.

Already one RT fellow from India commented, there is no one offering a standard education in India for RT’s so if U do ur diploma in RT, Masers and Phd those are never and ever equalent to CRT/RRT Credentials offered by the NBRC. May be there is talented RT’s existing in India too???

Please U can change your education system but don’t comment any more our US based RT education. CRT/RTT is valued World wide.

Greetings!

Dear Nisha Nelson,

Its really nice to read your comments. As a RT ,I always look up at RRT and CRT .I am aware of the Roles, Responsibility and their Training .I am saying this because i had the oppurnity to work with BOTH US and Canada RRT.

Education system differs from country to country.Pls do comment on RRT is equalent to PHD in India.Need to understand RT program existing in india for past 10 years and its at his infancy. Therefore would take some time for Certification like the ones in the USA.

Having said the Programs that are offered in india are formulated and Done by Medical Board and Affilated to medical unversity. Therefore its wrong on your part to compare or putting down the education system in India.
In india foundation is very strong .The only difference is Skills .Skills will learn has we see more and more patients .That wont be a problem in India.Thats the only difference.

Hi my friend RT

CRT and RRT and lincensing exams not degrees...that you should understand. You see any pronouned RT with RRT if they have PhD in their list they would have definitly done some Masters. It may be in pblic health or health administration. The rule is that you need to have a masters degree to do PhD. Please check out. I dont comment things as in USA or India. things have become globalisd now.

We in India try to get CRT / RRT level coz people wants to go abroad. Fr teaching purpose MRT will be useful and to be independant in critical care MRT will be helpful.

I have not heard of any body with CRT being absorbed in India as a hiher degree. We had an applicant at our place but the salary was offered for his BS degree only.

Good luck

Mr. Prem nice to observe the floating words on CRT/RRT at your end. Grt to hearing abt Ur International exposure with various RT professionals from US and Canada.

Where do U work in India???? Ur still working with RRT's???

Mr. Prem I do agree with your comments. I would like to inform You guys that in USA the RT profession was born and brought up. Since 60 years we don’t have any Masters in RT profession because here we believe that RT it self is a Super specialized Profession among all other Allied Health Programmes, the reason here in US our RT educators maintain certain level of standards in our RT Diploma and Bacuularate Programmes it self.

We do always recommend the QUALITY NOT THE QUANTITY.

NBRC board here recommends and insists all RT graduates to take the basic level License exam (CRT) and also an advanced level credentials like RRT. After accomplishing the RRT we do have again specialized areas in RRT like NPS/Sleep/RPFT.

We believe that RRT and RRT-NPS and RPFT is the most respectful credentials of NBRC in USA, these credentials are the highest educational Credentials in the RT profession here.

Here most of RT's do Masters in Hospital Administration and other health Care programmes to become a Programme directors and Head of the departments. I did my BS RT programme where a BS RT graduate with RRT is heading the department.

Here, we won’t fight for the degrees and Master degrees in RT and we never and ever comment that our Master degree in RT is the respectable and the top most grades in our Country.

(LOOK FOR THE QUALITY NOT THE QUANTITY WITH THE MASTERS AND Phd’s)

Here we will try our level best to maintain our standards and quality of education with our guidelines and protocols and we will be in our limits. We will satisfy with our quality as well we will be respected in the health care community and by the patients in the same manner.

Here in US the NBRC credentials are the sounding, demanding and most respectful in RT

As I observed the comments above I found that the RT education in India is not up to the mark. You guys first need to hold up your RT education standards to the mark.

Our RT educators would have started Masters Programme 50 years before itself, but our RT educators skipped that implementation and they started standardizing the RT education by establishing NBRC board with the help of US Government by passing the bill in the congress.

You guy should request your Congress to legalize your profession first, maintain the educational standards by establishing a Government approved National Board.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, IN INDIA THIS IS THE NOT TIME TO START THE MASTERS PROGRAMMES IN RT. FIRST GET APPROVAL FROM THE CONGRESS BY PASSING A BILL ON RT LEGAL PRACTICE AND EDUCATION, THEN STANDERDIZE YOUR EDUCATION, THEN PLAN FOR THE MASTERS AND THE Phd’s.

HERE IN US LEGAL ISSUES ARE MORE, IF WE DO WRONG WHILE TREATING A PATIENT THE RT WILL BE SUED AND PENALISED. WE WILL BE IN SAFE SIDE, BECAUSE WE DO HAVE A STATE RT BOARD TO FIGHT AND PAY THE FINE ON BE OF OF US. “DO U HAVE THIS FECILITY IN INDIA ?????

U GUYS WILL BE SAFE IF YOU HAVE GVT APPROVED RT BOARD (OR) COUNCIL, OR YOU WILL BE SUED AND PENALISED UNTILL UNLESS THE PHYSICIAN PROTECT YOU GUYS.

TAKE AN INITIATIVE AND FIGHT FOR THE RT LEGALIZATION IN INDIA.

MY FRIENDS ARE WORKING IN MUMBAI WITH THR RRT AND THEY ARE GETTING CTC 7 – 9. THEY GIVE ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT RT PROFESSION IN INDIA.

Try to accept the facts; its up to U guys whether U all take my comments in the positive manner???, But U cant Hinder the facts never and ever

All the best

Miss Misha Nelson,

Nice to get your responce.Thats what i am trying tell RT Program in India is at its Infancy.Things will get better and better.Thank you very much for your advise regarding creating Boards for Respiratory Therapist.

Miss Nisha Nelson you where mention about RRT being considered Super Speciality. What does that mean? Means to say RRT are at a Higher level then Nurses ,PT,Physician Assistant and Anesthesia Assistants in the usa.Every RT knows that above Professions are better paid then RT.

Looking at this context .In India RT are Respected and better paid then other Allied Health Professionals.

Regarding American Sleep Technology Society Courses are offered in india still april last year. The Prerequiste for the program ,Nurses,RT and Doctors who are in the field of sleep. These are Credentials exams from American Sleep Board.

Thank you much again .I really Appreciate for concern of having Board for RT. Your are very valuable.

Thanks Nisha for your concern for India and USA as well. keep going.

Another thing is that USA is not the final word and truth for everything. Things can come up even from a country you belong to dear. So appreciate it..............

We need to standardise the programms in India to same level. The work is already started and is in progress. We seek the suggestions and help from people like you from USA

Thanks

I LIKED YOUR COMMENTS AND THE UNIVERSAL ACCEPATBLE CONCEPT: “THE QUALITY IS IMPARTENT NOT THE QUANTITY”.
(Even a qualitative and standardized a small Diploma in RT is sufficient rather than a Masters in RT (MRT) and Phd’s). A Diploma candidate can teach better than a Phd if his basics and standards are well maintained.
Hi Nisha, where do U work in USA??? It’s nice to see your comments..... You are comments are appreciated by all our Andhra Pradesh Respiratory Therapists. In AP we are offering a PG-Diploma in RT (2 years) programme and it is recognized by the AP Government.

We are not just boosting over selves by looking at our UGC recognization. As you commented we are legally eligible to practice in Andhra Pradesh.

U better Don’t fight with these narrow mind people, they don’t under stand never and ever about your concerns and comments.

Here in India each RT programme has a different Syllabus and different treating guidelines and there is no co ordination between the Physicians who are heading these programmes and All RT's who work under them always fights each other for the positions and powers.

There is no coordination and cooperation in between our Indian RT fellows.
I agree your comments: MRT and PhD’s are not required presently in India where we don’t have any Educational standards and the RT legal board.
As you told we should approach the Indian Govt to legalize our Profession, then we need to standardize the RT education and then there is a meaning of starting the Masters in RT and Phd.

Here in India every one fights for the positions no one fight for the organizations our RT's are adopting the Policies from our Indian Politicians.

I will tell you a small story about “Physiotherapy” in India:

PT is started long before (approx 25 years) in India till now Indian GVT not fully legalized them. Each and every hospital they employed the PT’s as the number of PT’s produced in the Health Market, their pay scales are coming down.

Milan Sarkar in Hyderabad, India

I hope all these happened only because of delayed in getting Indian Gvt approval.

Even Indian PT’s has an association, and the association member’s count is huge (not in hundreds like our RT’s).

SOME ONE COMMENTED ABOVE ABOUT “GLOBALIZATION”, Please you first standardize your RT Education and get Legalize your clinical practice and talk about GLOBALIZATION AND OTHER STUFF, “till that time You are not fit to talk about RT Globalization and Internationalization”.

Please Open Your minds and accept the facts, don’t just talk blindly all rubbish to keep your name in the top like our present Indian Politicians.

What Nisha told is absolutely correct, the RRT is qualitative, standardize and most respectful position in The World.

The Globalization is applicable only for the CRT/RRT. The CRT/RRT positions are called as standardized qualifications and Globalize Qualifications. The whole World believes them and respects them.

CRT/RRT is maintaining the Global standard that’s why all Indian RT’s is behind the CRT/RRT to make them selves Globalize.

As Saumy commented from Manipal:

We are globalized; Globalization means you should meet the International standards. If you are globalized why you are behind USA RT degrees and why You people keep on attaching with USA University for getting eligibility to appear CRT/RRT???? Don’t behave like a bluff master.

Thank You Nisha for your comments and your concerns regarding the Indian Board of RT

Its fantastic, Now I feel that people are like frogs in the well.

Masters holders does not say that pg diploma is useless. It is wonderful they are skilled enough to treat patients. Why Physiotherapy has MPT?????They could have stopped at Diploma right????

Reasearch is needed for amything to to be stabilised. I have got an Award from AARC the association of RTs in America when I was First year of MRT. They gave me eqal treat as BS of USA.

If Americans can consider that PG degree is good why cant my fellow RTS have open mind.

When we commend hat India n system is worst.....I feel we are trhowing stones to ourselves.

Dear Milan must be aware about the initiatives of standardising the syllabus................ and Conferences, letters and request to parliament.

Respect your profession first That is the necessity of the hour.

If you do not know things please dont comment that every RT is fighting...................As if you dont argue for anything............Only if you are duff and dump

All the best.I stop my comments here.Good bye

thankyou all

Hi Richa,

U R right, RT jobs have been reduced in US as more and more hospitals are closing. Out of 17 students that graduated from our program last year only 9 of them found a job. I have talked with RT managers and recruiters during my clinicals and they r saying that they have a hiring freeze and they have to utilize existing RTs not to hire new ones. There are plenty of jobs available in home care though. I still have plenty of time before I graduate. I hope thing will improve by then. How is your CRT preparation going on? Good luck with everything.

Hello Saumy Faculty, Manipal: U don’t think we are Frogs in the Well, I know what level training U guys gives to RT's over thr, If I open my mouth and keep writing.......thn U wont rite further in Future. I worked with few of RT's 6 years before In HYD, I know what exactly U guys do thr. I think this is not the time to talk about that.

Please U don’t comment that we are the frogs in the Well. I think you are “A Big Frog in the Isolated Well”.

My degree is PG –Diploma in RT and GVT recognized, I think as a teacher U should know what is the meaning of PG-Diploma ??? a graduation??? and Masters and Phd???.

Please U don’t mingle with my PG-diploma to your Masters degree. I did my PG-Diploma in RT after finishing my BSc in Life Sciences, so My diploma is just a Diploma not a Pure Masters, but I am confident that my basics are for better than any one offering Masters in India and my standards are for for better than any one!!!!!. I do a clinical work what exactly a RT supposes to do not just sticking to ET-suction and CPT.

Please U don’t think that U are a big "Don in the Profession", I saw many of RT's from Manipal they wont talk silly like You. They are more and more mature persons. I worked with 4 for Your Senior Manipal RT's, 5-6 years bfr. I know all about Manipal training!!!!!!!!!!!

U might have got a award, but keep in mind U are not eligible to appear CRT and RRT and never and ever Ur Indian RT degree is equalent to the US offered RT degree, even U do Phd U can’t reach their level. If I get a chance I would have join that Us based ASRT programme to appear CRT/RRT, but they stopped the programme for the International students it seems.

One of my friend did PG-diploma in RT and he went to UA to study again the part of RT to get CRT/RRT elegibilty, he paid around 35 lks INR for the programme.

We read here all US based RT books, I think U do that, that is sufficient to explain thr standards, we have to appreciate them for the good work, plz don’t

plz don’t think with narrow mind, open ur mind “The World of Respiratory Therapy is big” and its not just You and me there are many and many. We have to accept the Good practice of US and Canada RT's.

Please Don’t comment again and again in the future Ur Globalized......You and me are Not Globalized till now. Accept the facts as Ms. Nisha commented.

Some one among us, keep on commenting from Chennai still our RT is at Infancy state, yes the Infancy state is applicable for the person who commented but not for all, we are at the level of Child in the the RT profession.

Please come and support us in getting Indian Gvt approval, don’t talk rubbish and don’t write unnecessary comments on the panel by thinking You are the Don’s of Indian RT profession. Even I worked in UAE for 4 years with RRT’s I know the value of CRT and RRT.

I even heard few of Good RT Professor who is working in Manipal, I think he/she belongs to AP??? I heard that he/she is the person did hard work to start the US programme attachment in Manipal and he is the person initiated the Masters in RT it seems????. If I get a chance I will come to Manipal just to meet him to get eligibility or to restart US –RT programme. I want to do that US-RT Programme.

PLEASE CREATE A SENCE DON’T JUST TALK RUBBISHLY ALL USELESS WORDS.
