As we all know the holiday season is quickly approaching and with that comes a decline in our work load. My company acosta sales and marketing has no work from November through December. I was wondering if anyone else has this going on and what do you do through that time. I have heard from others that they file temporary unemployment. Do others do this or is it even worth doing. |

Odd - for my company, work increases during the holiday season. They want you out in the field more, interacting with customers. I have heard of filing Temporary unemployment, and it can be helpful in getting through a couple of months... |

Well the work that I do is all "reset" work so i can understand them not wanting us in the stores during peak shopping season. Thanks for your replies. As far as a temp xmas job with costco..... dunno, guess just apply =) |

Unfortunately Costco does not hire seasonal employees for the holiday season. I had inquired with my friend who works for Costco about this same exact thing. :( |

I also am employed by Acosta, Indianapolis Div. Like you, we too slow down during the Nov. and Dec. months. I enjoy that but I do know of others who do draw unemployment for a couple of weeks or so. Good Luck |

I would suggest to get into another field, most companies have plenty of work during the November and December ending because they want to close out the year, I would suggest you to get into Medical Billing/Coding or the Legal Field Records Clerk. |

4 wk. period. I maintain one store regularly, and help out others on bigger resets.. Like shampoo or canned vegetables. I average 20 hours a week, most weeks. Im off until Jan.3, 2008. On-line trying to get unemployment benefits. Wondering if it is worth all the trouble? |

Kompass in the western regions was only interrupted for 1 week during the Thanksgiving week in November and 2 weeks in late December. |

I got a small part time job but hell its barely worth the trouble, think i might file this week. |

But be aware that the unemployment will hold back a week just his one time.Your claim will be open the next time you have a week off for the holiday. But you can also ask your supervisor for extra work during the holidays. |
