What is the best training for becoming an rf engineer? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective rf engineer?

What do non-traditional career paths look like?

I am looking for a place where I can get quick but accurate training as well as certified as an RF Engineer. I am currently a college student and I am a double major in the areas of Infromation Security/Computer Engineer. I landed a job at WLEY 107.9 as the assistant cheif engineer and I was wondering what I can do to inprove my career.

You will make a lot more money working just about anywhere other than the radio station. For RF design you need to work at a company with a guy/gal that can mentor you. Failing that look into ameteur radio clubs and start tinkering.

i have been out of the RF field for several years but still applied myself to other career goals such as teaching, home building and currently running and operating a tax office. I would now like to get back into the telecommunications arena. I'm in search for what is needed to allow this to happen and get the attraction from companies that I used to have with my current enginering work experience.

Though this industry is definetely shrinking. But if you are interested on becoming RF engineer for telecom, you can start with many online courses available there. I am particular specialized in GSM/UMTS side, so reading up ETSI/3GPP specs is a good way to learn.
