What is the best training for becoming an rf engineer? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective rf engineer? What do non-traditional career paths look like? |

I am looking for a place where I can get quick but accurate training as well as certified as an RF Engineer. I am currently a college student and I am a double major in the areas of Infromation Security/Computer Engineer. I landed a job at WLEY 107.9 as the assistant cheif engineer and I was wondering what I can do to inprove my career. |

You will make a lot more money working just about anywhere other than the radio station. For RF design you need to work at a company with a guy/gal that can mentor you. Failing that look into ameteur radio clubs and start tinkering. |

Arthur Hopkins in Dallas, Texas said: tell me i have been out of the RF field for several years but still applied myself to other career goals such as teaching, home building and currently running and operating a tax office. I would now like to get back into the telecommunications arena. I'm in search for what is needed to allow this to happen and get the attraction from companies that I used to have with my current enginering work experience. |

Though this industry is definetely shrinking. But if you are interested on becoming RF engineer for telecom, you can start with many online courses available there. I am particular specialized in GSM/UMTS side, so reading up ETSI/3GPP specs is a good way to learn. |
