What are the top 3 traits or skills every safety engineer must have to excel?

Can you suggest any tips or insights to develop your safety engineer expertise?

The number one trait you need is a trade background, college is fine,if you want to sit in an office all day.Number two is knowing the guys and gals in the field, too many safety people look down their noses at these people,i.e.,see number one.The third thing is always let them see you out there on the job, again, see number one,you can't do this job and get results sitting behind a desk.

These skills are necessarily required in a safety professional but the important and foremost thing that you say very excellently is that he should be an influential lead player.
