You would think that someone would need a sales engineer with some wisdom and a lot of experience. I have not found a job..... |

William, If you are truly a sales professional, don't buy into the crap that firms won't hire you. |

I am here because of the thread headline, "Hiring older persons." Hmmm, indeed. It's called age discrimination. Age discrimination is illegal but it happens and is practiced. It's not crap at all. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to. Just run a forum search with "age discrimination" as keywords and see what others (besides me) are saying. Good luck with your job search, William. |

Good for you for omitting age references on your resume. Too bad an ignoramus wasted your time. I have heard, though, that resumes which list dates of birth, etc. are automatically sh!tcanned to avoid EEOC hassles - but when you think about it such actions amount to de facto age discrimination. No reason to list school, college, etc. graduation dates on a resume unless they're recent. School graduation dates matter less the longer one is employed. For that matter, why list dates of employment? Just state your total years of experience. Why furnish them with ammo to blow away your candidacy? Interviewers may dig for actual employment dates at an interview, but I think chances improve somewhat when dealing with someone in person. Your resume's purpose is to get you an interview. Yours did once and it will again. Once again, best of luck with your job search. Older jobseekers deserve far better than they get. |
