Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

National averages for salespeople are around 45k/year. Of course, averages are not that helpful since most people are either earning a lot more or a lot less. I would wager that 20% of the salespeople out there are earning 80% of the money. This is how it is in almost every sales business. The most important skills for a salesperson in my opinion is the ability to listen and then respond to what the customer wants. You never really have to sell if you do this. Your customer will tell you exactly how to sell them something, if you listen you can tailor your sales presentation to be exactly what they want to hear, and never have to convince them of anything. Beyond that, it's the person who is not afraid to face their fears and face rejection on a regular basis that will make money hand over fist in sales.
