PopSci.com has just launched its PPX Leagues platform. The PopSci Predictions Exchange (PPX) allows players to bet on the future of science and technology. This is a great resource for elementary, middle, and high school teachers to engage students with real-world science and technology news. And now, teachers can create leagues of students—the teachers control the leagues and can create as many leagues as they’d like to, and set the rules and timelines according to their own class structures and semester schedules. Different classes, or groups of students within one class, can compete against each other, and this competition personalizes the activity for the students. In order to perform well in PPX, players must research and follow the “propositions” that they are betting on (PopSci.com introduces three new propositions weekly), and guess accurately as to the outcome. This can serve as a great foundation for classroom discussions on real-world science and technology. To learn more, and create a league, go to ppx.popsci.com.
