Do you have any tips to help prepare for an upcoming science teacher interview?

Are there common interview questions that come up again and again?

Everyone thinks that they will be asked, 'What is your teaching philosophy? Why should we hire you?' Things such as this were NOT asked in my interviews. They were very personable in the first interview, where are you from, what schooling have you had, family? Our school is on the block schedule so they asked me questions such as, "How would you break up the lesson you were teaching in a normal 80 min period? How do you keep the students interested and stay on task? " They also asked questions dealing with my student teaching. I heard from the principal in a student teaching seminar that he asks a question at the end as follows: ' Compare a lion trainer, ring master and clown to the school." When I had my interview, he told me he was going to ask me an off-the-wall question and I jumped in and said, "Is it the one dealing with comparing a school to a circus?" Totally threw him off his boat! Felt great too! I'll think of more later if I can. Good luck!
