Hi, I have been working in the nursing field for 16 years. I spend the last five five years pressuring bachelors in nursing only to change my mind and switched to a bachelors in science. I major in sociology with a minor in psychology and graduated in 12/06. My question is how I can get a job as a social worker, case manager, or counselor with minimal experiences.

Don't give up! I like you and many others have tried to locate positions. However, we can not all start with positions that we desire. Try and try again. You might try working towards your gaol in life, just as you worked for the gaol in school!

Hello, I too, am waiting for postion offers. I have had no luck her in Jefferson City, that is. I think that I may need to apply in the St.Louis area?
I have very little to advice to offer other then to continue doing your very best to locate a position. As so many of us do. We all have to start somewhere.
Let me ask you, Do you like teaching? If you do you can apply for sub. teaching position until a position is offered to you, in Social work. Maybe return to college part time to add some classes and credits to your transcipt, and add another feild to your profession. Make sure it is something that is high in demand and that interest you. There are so many other things out there that you might enjoy more. And if not learn more and may be assist others with learning.

Check the County of Los Angeles Dept of Public Social Services and also the Dept of families and Children Services. They usually have positions where you would start as a social worker trainee for one year.

Beverly, I too found it hard getting my foot in the door right out of college. I found that networking was what got me my first job. My degree was in social work and ended up doing intake work for the local prosecutor's office. Now after 17 years in social services, I too am looking for other employment in the field. I would suggest looking for work with the State of Ill job bank, Department of Public Aid, lutheren and catholic social services, and other local entities of governement, etc. I have enclosed a few websites for your to view. You may also want to consider volunteering. There is another website for that as well. I wish you the best of luck!
