When I've gone on interviews in the social services field, private sector, most people see my degree and ask, 'Why aren't you in a school....with that degree?'
Seems that they become reluctant to consider my MSeD in any other milieu other than a school building. But, much of my work experience has been in non-profit organizations, in a Social Worker- type role.
At this point, I simply want a job, and can adapt and adjust my skills and competencies in any environment within the 'helping' professions.
How do you bridge that gap? I can't get into a school, and don't have that recognized degree in Social Work, either.
