Wondering in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

I'm a high school student now but am planning for college. I really want to do something with my life where I can help other people. Would social work be a good career, and thus major? What other options are there? What advice do you have? I have plenty of time to get out now if I find that lots of experienced people are warning me away.
I love to work with kids, by the way. Are there good job opportunities there?
Thanks so much!

Just to give you a little background, I am a master's level social worker.

Personally, I love social work and I think it's wonderful work, but of course I can't tell you if it would be a good career for you because I don't know you :) My advice would be to:
-Don't worry about figuring it all out right now. I changed my major a few times in college and still managed to graduate in 4 years - you don't have to have it all figured out.
-Talk to a career counselor at your high school/when you start college.
-Do some volunteer work with the types of clients you'd like to work with

Best of luck, and have fun!
