Hello I am currently frustated and almost depressed. I have a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology. In my First Year I made 40K and i am not happy with it.

I Heard that Computer Science ppl make more money with no stopping figures. and being good in math/computers i decided to purse my future career in computers, however i have some question if any1 can answer it would be much appreciated.

Q1. to be sucessfull do i need a degree in CS?
Q2. is degree in MT + degree in CS is a good match?

A1. Yes, to be successful you do need a degree nowadays.
A2. Depends on the company. If it is radiology related then it will be an asset.

Forget, though about making more money. Many CS people make the same as you do. CS is not a place to go if you want to make money.

Hey I know it's been 45 months, but I'd like to give you some advice. First off Move! If you can or are willing to. 40K is way too little for a Medical Technologist. Come East or West Coast. Also there are ample opportunities in clinical laboratory science, get your MPH or MBA to quickly become supervisor and then lab manager. Lab Manager's in NYC easily make $>130K . Supervisor's make 100K. Another thing to consider is getting a Masters or certificate in Information Systems, or Information Technology. You could then work as a Laboratory Information Systems Manager. Also for NYC, LIS managers make 80-100K...Not bad!
