I am a Software Engineer student about to get my Masters degree this May, and I'm looking for a job in the San Diego area. I've submitted my resume to tons of different places around the San Diego area, but I am yet to get a response. I'm living and educated in the Midwest, so it might be a location thing. I've gotten plenty of responses (and I even have an interview next week) around this area, but I'm serious about relocating to San Diego. Are employers/staffing agencies less likely to hire out-of-state candidates? What can I do?

I hope you went to a top school... san diego already has loads of people with IT backgrounds (thanks to all the local schools, UCSD, SDSU, USD). With unemployment what it is you're likely to wait around 6 months to a year just to get an interview. Take what you can get where you're at would be my suggestion.
